My husband and the kids LOVE popcorn! I am happy to give it to them for quick afternoon snack or during dinner instead of chips. Did you know that Popcorn has more Iron than spinach or eggs and it is high in antioxidants? well, it is true! Popcorn has more Iron than spinach and eggs as well as polyphenols. Polyphenols are a natural plant chemicals that have a variety of health benefits, they are the same group of compounds that give red wine, tea, olive oil and chocolate their beneficial properties.
Couple of weeks ago I received a box of variety bags of Rocky Mountain Popcorn flavors to test out. Rocky Mountain Popcorn Company started over 20 years ago in the eastern foothills of the great Rocky Mountains near Denver, CO. Rocky Mountain Popcorn is delicately coated with natural flavors. Their popcorn does not contain corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oil in it.
We couldn’t wait to open the bags when they arrived. We started with the Cinnamon Sugar, both my boys and I loved it. It was airy, fresh, cinnamon taste and sweet. Next, my husband and the boys tried the Jalapeño, they liked it because it did not leave an after-taste in their mouth and the Jalañepo taste is just enough. The White Cheddar and Kettle flavors were as fresh and airy as the Cinnamon type, it went fast! Next we tried the Butter popcorn it was so good, buttery, crunchy, salty, airy and super fresh. My personal favorite was the Caramel popcorn, the kernel is perfectly popped and the taste is true caramel, not process taste. The naked popcorn is perfectly popped and fluffy kernels. Compared to some of the others, the Southern Cheddar was our least favorite, it is spicy, cheesy, fluffy and full of flavored. Overall, of all the popcorn were fresh and airy which is very rare in an already popped popcorn.
