(#MonkeyKingdom Bloggers before the screening of Monkey Kingdom)
Do you love adventures? If you been reading this blog for some time now, you are well aware that I love adventures, travel, and movies. If you combine all these three ingredients into one, you get the #AvengersEvent & #MonkeyKingdom L.A trip from last week. During this L.A trip I had the amazing opportunity to screen both Avengers: Age of Ultron (stay tuned for the movie review, cast interview & more) and Monkey Kingdom, which premiers this Friday, April 17, 2015. After screening of Monkey Kingdom, we also had the chance to partake in a #MonkeyKingdom Inspired Tour at the #LAZoo. Today I want to share with you all everything I learned throughout the tour.
The Los Angeles (L.A) Zoo is an 133 acre facility & it is home to more than 1,100 mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles representing more than 250 different species of which 29 are endangered. In addition, the Zoo’s botanical collection comprises several planted gardens and over 800 different plant species with over 7,400 individual plants. Among the many species that call the L.A zoo home, are several species of monkeys from all over the world. After the screening of Monkey Kingdom and getting to see how Maya and her family live in the South Asian region, I could wait to learn more about the primates that rise at the L.A zoo.
While at the L.A Zoo, our new friend Maya, our stuffed animal inspired by the movie Monkey Kingdom, and I went on an amazing adventure that transported us into an amazing kingdom. Thanks to the guided tour we learned about some of the monkeys, apes, elephants, giant river otters, plus L.A Zoo’s conservation efforts for the world’s endanger species. If that wasn’t enough, Maya and I, even had an al fresco lunch by the giraffe dent, got to ride one of L.A Zoo’s carousel and visit the gift shop. How cool is that? Surely, amazing.
Just like Maya in the Monkey Kingdom movie, the L.A Zoo is home to some of their resident’s babies. While there, we got to see some of them during our guided tour. My favorites were the hippo baby, Chimpanzee babies, Kangaroos babies, Howler monkey babies and the Koala babies, they were so ADORABLE! Next time you are in the L.A Zoo, you should stop by and see the growing babies.
Check out the Siamang apes from Malaysia communicating.
I invite you to see Monkey Kingdom to learn more about Maya, Skip and their family. Monkey Kingdom opens this Friday, April 17, 2015. Plus, if you see MONKEY KINGDOM on its opening week (April 17-23), Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to Conservation International to help protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats. Learn more about Monkey kingdom by visiting the Monkey Kingdom website here. Stay tuned for the Monkey Kingdom movie review coming up this Friday and don’t forget to follow along on social media with the hashtags #AvengersEvent and #MonkeyKingdom.
Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya’s has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up in the world. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya’s whole family retreats, and she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to uncover untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings. Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future.
Featuring a rich variety of characters, including a mischievous mongoose, simple-minded langur monkeys, predatory leopards and monitor lizards, “Monkey Kingdom” is narrated by Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), directed by Mark Linfield (“Chimpanzee,” “Earth”) and co-directed by Alastair Fothergill (“Chimpanzee,” “Bears”). With music from award-winning composer Harry Gregson-Williams (“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Shrek” movies), Disneynature’s eighth True Life Adventure—the follow-up to 2014’s “Bears”—swings into theaters April 17, 2015.
