My kids just began their second week of school and they couldn’t be more happy about it, after all the NEW adventures and NEW places we got to visit this past summer it was time to get back on the school routine. Last year we took the kids to their first ever Monster Jam and they LOVED it! This year Monster Jam was coming to the BB&T center in Ft. Lauderdale and I knew I had to take them again to see it. This year it happen to be the weekend before school began, so my mission was to surprise them with it.

Monster Jam® is the world’s largest and most famous monster truck tour featuring the biggest names in monster trucks including Grave Digger®, Maximum Destruction®, Monster Mutt®, El Toro Loco®, Captain’s Curse® and Blue Thunder®.

Hubby got their ear protectors ready and we headed to the BB&T center, they had no idea where we were going and they kept asking where we were going the entire way there. :-) As we arrived at the BB&T they couldn’t figure it out but as soon as we stepped through the doors they were smiling and picking their favorite trucks, even baby girl got into the action.

Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

There was so much excitement going on that day at the BB&T Center, so many kiddos with their moms, dads and grandparents. Grave Digger, MaxD, Monster Mutt, El Toro Loco, Captain’s Curse and Blue Thunder rode around the pit and the show started! The trucks head to head competition was fun but our favorite part was the truck’s freestyle. We got to see the trucks jump in the air and crush cars and a van, they also did wheelies and MaxD’s driver even got the truck to go on two wheels!

The family had so much fun, specially when MaxD’s driver gave one of the boys sitting in-front of us the trophy he won that day! We also loved the quad-bike races and the BMX riders, that was so fun but a little nerve wrecking. We cannot wait for Monster Jam to come back to Miami to see them again!
