So late last year, hubby and I, decided to give the boys’ room a makeover. But before we continue, let’s backtrack a bit. The last time we did something kind of makeover to their room was about 5 years ago, which was only paint and removing the popcorn texture from the ceiling. Honestly, I was so tired of the rundown look of their metal bunk beds and beddings. Today I invite you to check out the boys’ room makeover.
Before the boys’ room makeover began, we had to determine the entire look of the room. This was super easy as the boys love their sports, so we knew their bedding had to do with sports! We also wanted their room to have a minimal and neutral look to it. To implement The Boys’ Room Makeover, we began by removing the clutter, discarding old broken toys and donating toys they no longer use. After the room was cleared and cleaned, it was time to touch up the walls and assemble the new beds.
DHP Furniture’s Maddie Upholstered Bed was the ideal option for the boys’ room. These beds have an urban-inspired look to them, perfect for growing boys. The low-profile platform beds make it ideal for our small space. My favorite feature from these beds is its unique column detailing on the upholstered headboard. And the best part is that assembling is a breeze!
After decluttering the room, assembling the new beds, adding new bedding, touching up the walls and purchasing new storage bins for the boys to store their toys, our boys’ room makeover is complete. What do you think? I think it turned out pretty good, but the best part is that the boys love their new room’s look and their big boys’ beds.
Now for the best part, thanks to DHP furniture, ONE lucky Miami Mommy Savings reader will win a Maddie Upholstered Bed (Frame ONLY)! For more information about DHP furniture visit the DHP furniture webpage here.

I love using wall decals to use in a major way when redoing a room on a budget! You can choose from so many and they stick to not only the walls, but to the furniture and ceiling fans too! I even love using them to cover up holes or scratches in the walls the I don’t have time to fix! I have found many cute ones in the dollar store, so they’re not even expensive!

Add some new paint even just to one wall for accent and curtains and a colorful area rug. Refurbish some old furniture with new stain or paint.

A fresh coat of paint can always spruce up a room. You can always find discounted paint at your local Home depot or Lowe’s that someone had returned (not right color).
I would also check local yard sales and thrift stores. Also mention to your family and friends what you are looking to find and they may have or know someone that is looking to get rid of that item.

I like to do thrift shops on accessories and some furniture. When we did my son’s nursery, we spent a chunk of our budget on the right crib and then I refinished some secondhand pieces to match that crib. I also spent extra money on the cute patterned baby comforter, but then shopped for more budget-friendly solid color sheets and accessories. We spent a fraction of the money, but got a unique and coordinated look.
